CORRECTIONS & OMISSIONS
OWING to several discrepancies in our report of the above annual meeting appearing in last issue, we bdg to submit the following : — Touching upon the second-class cream reduction, Mr Hudson said he himself had had deducted 8d from his own cream supply; while another shareholder suggested that it would be better to report "on future balance sheets the cost of second-grade cream for the year. This matter was not decided (as reported), and Mr Valentine said he did NOT approve of second-grade cream being shoSvn on the balance sheet. Our reporter left out the word " not" which puts a very different aspect on the question. Then again, Mr Hudson was reported to have explained, in response to Mr K\ W. Rimmer's question, that there had been an advance of two-tenths of a penny in the marketing of the butter owing to the increase in salaries of the staff, whereas the facts of the situation were explained in the Manager's report, which we now re-produce:—
" The average cost of manufacture per lb of butter was .736. It will be seen that the cost of manufacture is each year decreasing, even though the staff is increasing; also salaries, which was approximately £100 over the previous year. One item which shows a decrease is fuel: For 1913, the oost was £1 3s 3d } for 1914, 19s 7d; for 1915, 19s 3d. The latter year showing a decrease of 4/ per ton. This represents a direct saving against 1913, when we were not making within 50 tons of last season, of £67." . s
