THE KAISER'S ANSWER TO THE AMERICAN NOTE
[By E.G., Mount Eden]
" You have walked into my parlour," said the Kaiser to to the Pres., " it's a dandy, little parlour, tho' it's in an awful mess.
It's right down there in Belgium—where peaceful homes there were, In Servia and Southern France —my lovely web is there.
And, oh ! dear Pres, I've got you tight, you'll never nrore get loose. For that swelled head and neck of yours we've made an ugly noose You could have stopped my little game had you but spoke the word ; but you preferred to dollars make than battle with the sword. Now, there's that brown-faced little Jap a-knocking at your door, and you've earned old John Bull's scorn, he'll help you—nevermore. And there's the black'wi'thin your gate, the German and the Hun. But now you're left by friend and foe. Oh, they may give you—fun. Oh, Wilson dear, I greatly fear that you have missed "the bus; for no one now. for Johnatlian will care a tinker's cuss.
