A Farewell.
A few convivial spirits of Helensvillo meet in Bishop's Terminus Hotel, on Tuesday last, with Mr H, Graham, in the chair, to say a few words of endearment to their departing guest, in the person of Mr. F. Edgecumbe, surveyor, who has been undergoing a course of mineral springs treatment out at the baths, and now flatters himself as being quite cured of a severe attack of rheumatism. Bowling was the principal topic indulged in interspersed with sundry toasts, which were enthusiastically drunk, and as Mr. Edgecumbe had been so generous as to take the levels for top - dressing the Awaroa Bowling greens, and likewise for summer croquet and winter bowling greens at the springs during some idle hours, he was publicly thanked on behalf of the sports of Helensville. Mr Edgecumbe, who is a bowling enthusiast, and in touch with about 150 bowlers, croquet and tennis players of Te Awamutu, promised, in returning thanks to his Helensville friends, to let one and all know of the good times in store for them when he brings " a few " along during the coming season.
