According to a communique from Pefcrograd. the Austrlans have been routed in Bukoviua, and the Russians are agak. in possession of Czernowitz, the capital. Italy's entry into the year is regarded as imminent in Germany. Eari JCitchener, in the House of Lords, announced the intention of the British and French Governments to employ asphyxiating gases to remove the enormous and unjustifiable disadvjirita&a under which the allies would have to fight otherwise. He 'also called for 800,000 more recruits jfcg form new armies.
