BAY OF ISLANDS ELECTION PETITION

ALLEGED BRIBERY AND CORRUPT PRACTICES

SOME SERIOUS CHARGES

RESPONDENT

THE Election Court for the trial of an election petition for* the electoral district of Bay of Islands will sit at Kaikohe (Bay of Islands) on Friday, April 30.

A number of the allegations of the original petition have been abandoned, and the clauses of the petition as it now stands are :

That J. C. Johnson, as agent of the respondent, offered Mr G. Wilkinson a seat in the Upper House, .if he would retire from the contest.

That respondent agreed, if elected, to retire within twelve months if Mr Wilkinson would retire from the contest.

That one J, E. Jaoentho, as agent for the respondent, offered to pay all Wilkinson's expenses if he would retire.

That respondent offered one Thomas Richards a postmastership as the price of political support.

That one Jack Pausina, as agent for the repondent, had offered money to Tony Ivicevich in consideration of his voting for respondent.
