SUBLIME AND BEAUTIFUL SUBJECT
OUR local nurseryman, Mr H. Hopmeier, draws attention in another column to the beautiful and sublime subject of "Children and Flowers." Too much praise cannot be bestowed upon this allimportant nature-subject, as it is one that appeals to one of God's greatest gifts to His people. The flower is the first attraction little children are entranced by, the result being that as they grow up a refined culture is imbued in their future lives, and all is beautiful to look upon and be thankful for. We understand it is the desire of a number of residents in our community to see that the children in connection with the Helensville Technical School have a flower garden of some merit. But this, although a small attempt was made last year and a nice piece of ground has been enclosed for the purpose, needs money, but not a large sum, which parents and others would do well to support. And to make the idea a success, Mr Hopmeier has promised to devote one half-day a week free gratis, for instruction to the children willing to learn that extremely fine art, horticulture, towards which, when the subscription list comes round, the ECHO'S mite will be found thereon.
