ADVANCE HOT SPRINGS

YET ANOTHER PRIVATE

HOTEL

DESPITE the war and the falling off of the tourist traffic elsewhere the Helensville Hot Springs have during the last summer and up till this period of autumn, surpassed all previous years so far as the number of patrons is concerned, the three large boarding houses opposite the Hot Springs Domain having been largely patronised during the season ; and as the splendid autumn we are now experiencing promises to continue, there is no fear of a great falling off taking place until after Easter.

In view of further advancement, a syndicate has purchased some three or four acres of land from Mr Nicholls, being part of his farm which adjoins the Hot Springs Domain. The propertyis, a valuable one and contains very strong mineral, springs, similar, if not stronger, than those of the present baths. 'En passant,' we may say the HelensVille Domain Board tried its best to acquire this property some years ago, but the Government would neither encourage nor help in its purchase —afraid of Rotorua again.

The syndicate referred to have purchased a fine 22-roomed boarding-house at Paparoa, for removal to their property, and intend to add another ten rooms to the present structure, while a large sum of money is to be expended on the grounds in lawns, flower beds, etc. Mr A. Becroft, contractor for the removal of the building referred to, went to Paparoa on to-day with a large -staff of workmen, and all the sections are to be punted along the route to right out past Helensville South, which means that the distance from landing is not far for catamaran carriage.
