HELENSVILLE FIRE BRIGADE
The members of the above Brigade turned out for drill during the early part of the week, and considering that they have had only a couple of practices, all the members acquitted themselves creditably. T<hey " were under the command qf Afr G. Robinson, who put them through sqme very useful work About 500 ft of ho.se were available, and coupled up, kater on the Brigade expect to be able to use sqme 900 ft of hose. A tower is to be erected shortly in a prominent place, and the members have agreed to erect same free of cost. A couple of fire-bells, presented by Mr Jas. Stewart, are shortly to be erected. As the Brigade is purely a volunteer one and receive no gratuity from anyone the men should be encouraged as much 'as possible in their dangerous undertaking, The « shilling ball," don't smile at the price, held in the Star Theatre, last .Thursday evening, in aid of the Helensville Eire Brigade funds, was well attended. It is proposed tq hold similar functions eyer.y fortnight, with the same object in view. ' The'EpHQ wants to know wliy the Town Band should "not have an occasional benefit night.
