OPPOSITION STEAMER SERVICE
IT is rumoured that there is to be a competitor in the DargavilleHelensville river steamer service, the s. s. Pitoitoi having been commissioned, we understand, to enter the service. A local company, so we are informed, has been floated, with the purpose of entering both the cargo and the passenger trade, and it is already stated that the passenger fares will be reduced on the new line to 10/ and 14/ return. The project is reported to be meeting with considerable support.—" Bell."
