PHOSPHORISED POLLARD POISON FOR RABBITS
As several prosecutions are pending against persons who neglect to poison rabbits on their estates, on the excuse that they do not know the method or process, the Govt. Ranger of the district, has kindly furnished us with the following, for public information: 2 sticks phosT(6ozs.) 201bs pollard 9 pints water 6 lbs sugar (This will make about 361bs of pollard poison.) Boil water on fire and add sugar; stir till quite dissolved; then add prosphorous, and stop when dense smoke-arises, and take off fire. The pollard must be added quickly and care must be taken when adding pollard that the mixer does not stop stirring. When thick dough is formed, sprinkle thickly to prevent sparkling. When cold take out and roll with plenty of drypollard, and cut into small squares about H-inch square. F^JU Great care must be taken when mixing to keep all vessels and hands clean. Phosperous should always be kept covered in water, and . must be kept away from the children. In dry weather treacle may be substituted instead of sugar, this prevents undue hardening.
