BIKE ACCIDENT

THE junior telephone exchange clerk (R. F. Caundle) met with a rather nasty accident while rising the incline in front- of Stewart's butchery, upon his bicycle, on Wednesday afternoon, when the head of the machine snapped clean off. Young Caundle was pitched on to his face upon the hard metal road, and was almost immediately picked up unconscious. Dr Meinhold was promptly on the scene, when it was found that the youth was suffering from severe injuries to his face and slight concussion of the brain. It is expected that he will be about again within a week or ten days' time.
