The London Daily Chronicle's Calais correspondent describes a bayonet charge on the allied trenches, which was met first with deadly artillery fire and finally with the allied bayonets. Some of the Germans were 'caught in entanglements. They suffered sickening losses, and yvere driven back to their own trenches. The renewed bombardment of pre.s, Nieuport and Pervy.se by c Germans is believed to be intended as a rase to mislead the allies. paper says the German atrocities in Belgium have been surpassed in Poland. The fate of Kalisch is worse than that of Louvain. The Germans murdered about 900 of the inhabitants of the town, including women and children.
