It is officially stated that the German cruiser Nurnburg was sunk in the naval battle off the Falkland Islands, in which Germany also lost the Scharnhorst Gneisanau, and Leipsic. The search for the Dresden, the only ship of the German fleet which survived the action, is proceeding. The newspapers state that the enemy were detected early on Thursday morning atttempting to make for the western entrance. A gunner on the pierhead fired and the submarines disappeared. Later made a second attempt to enter the harbour by the eastern entrance, their objective being several warships, which were lying at anchor.
