Me«Jiipast of Ypres, and that the allies are threatening Roulers A furious assault was made by the enemy east of Ypres, which gained them a temporary advantage. The French for a time were hard pressed, but made a successful counter-attack, flinging them back to Menin. Fighting is now proceeding in the north of Poland and at Cracow, as well as in the Lodz region. The Germans made a rapid and secret transfer of troops to the north of Poland with the object of cutting the railways behind Warsaw, but they are being met with a stubborn resistance from the Russians in __ this region. Attempts to turn the Russian right wing at Cracow have also been frustrated.
