KAMO SALE
The Auckland Farmers' Union, Limited, report : — At our Kamo sale on the 3rd inst., we had considerably more than the advertised number of cattle, some 1700 odd being submitted to the hammer. Prices for beef cattle showed a decline to those obtained at this centre last month. There was not such a keen demand for store cattle, but very little difference was noticeable in the prices for anything over two years old. Buyers were in attendance from Thames, Auckland, Wairoa and Northern districts, and on the whole we have to report a most satisfactory sale. We quote :— Beef: Steers, £9 10s to £12 (35s per 1001b) ; cows, £5 10s to £9 (25s to 27s 6d per 1001b); grown steers, £8 10s to £9 10s; 3 to 3J^-years steers, £7 to £8 10s ; 2 to 2^-year steers, £4 15s to £6 5s ; 12 to 18-months steers, £3 5s to .-4 7s 6d ; cows, good fresh empty cows sold at from £4 5s to £5 ; others, £3 10s to £3 15s ; 2 to 2^-year heifers, £3 5s to £3 15s ; 12 to 18-months heifers, £2 5s to £3 ; strong good coloured calves, mixed sexes, £1 10s to £2 ss; bulls, £4 to £12 12s. Dairy Stock: Any young promising cows close to profit sold at from £5s 10s to £8 10s, others £4 to £5. ' ' ; At Whangarej, o,n the 4th ins.t,, we had another, full yarding, and prices, were much on a par with those obtained at Kamo, The stock market at present bears a healthy tone, but the feature so far as store cattle are concarned would depend very much on the feather further south, as the continued dry conditions, l\as had the effeot of depreciating prices all round.
