The Germans are again concentrating near Ypres. The battle continues in the Dixmunde Ypres, and Roulers districts. The Belgians are fighting with great spirit, and are peforming splendid work with the bayonet. A detailed description of the German effort to break the allies' Ypres-Lille line shows that the battle lasted three days, the third day being marked by the brilliant success of the British bayonet charges. The slaughter of Germans was appalling. The report concludes: Never have the enemy suffered such horrors, x^3>yCh colossal losses, and such *-^v-40_£,parable damage as in this sSPkht-out fight with the British." The British Admiralty has announced that it is unable to accept the report of the naval fight off Valparaiso, because the battleship Canopus, which was sent to join the Good Hope, Monmouth and Glasgow, is not mentioned. The presence of the Canopus would have given the British squadron a decided superiority. It is officially announced that the British have annexed Cyprus.
