AN EXPENSIVE PUNCH.

A Maori from Waimauku named Toi Toi, was charged with assaulting Nicholis Pavich, barman at the Helensville Hotel, ou the 10th inst. Mr E. Field appeared for the complainant.

It appears from the evidence that the result of an argument over the payment of a game of billiards, Toi struck Pavich, and Pavich did not see tb.6 joke. Fined £2, and £2 costs. £1 to go to complainant to mend the patch.

A local resident also applied to have his beer stopped, which was granted by the Bench.
