ALTERING COUNTY BOUNDARIES

IN reply to Mr G. W. Russell (Avon) the other day, the Prime Minister said the Goverment did not propose at present to interfere with the division of counties. Many counties were too large and unwieldly, and it was a matter for the ratepayers to decide what was best in their own interests. No hard-and-fast rule could be laid down.

Very good, then in the case of the Waitemata County it is time the ratepayers got to work and decided what is best for their own interests, so that a settlement may be at hand by the time of next County Council election.
