THE KING AND HOME RULE

BY order of King George V., two members each of the British Cabinet, the Opposition, Nationalists, and Unionists met in Buckingham Palace on July 21, to hear the King's adJress to them on the most vital question of the day —' Hour"* R'i!-*3 for Ireland," and the exclusion of Ulster point, against which the Unionists buck, and they and the Nationalists are prepared to cut each others throats. It is indeed a case of "God help Ireland." in such a crisis, and so far public opinion is that the King's efforts at present to allay the wretched feeling of party antagonism is a failure, though he says '* Civil war is unthinkable."
