PRODUCE MARKET
Mr. J. JONES, Auctioneer, Victoria and Lome Streets, Auckland, reports:— The market this week has been verybusy, and large volumes of business has been done. Values in most lines are about the same as last report. Poultry' came forward in good numbers and for good fresh hens the market improved, about 6d per head. Roosters are in steady demand. The market for turkeys has been heavily supplied, mostly of a poor sort, Butter and eggs are steady. The fruit market has eased. Potatoespumpkins, and swedes are much firmer. Pigs : In short supply and are wanted 7/9 to £1 ss. POULTRY Hens, prime young 2/5 to 3/6, good 2s to 2/3, ordinary 1/9 to 1/11; ducks, 2s to 3/4 ; geese, 4s ; roosters, extra prime 4/8, good 3s to 3/8, ordinary 2/ to 2/10; turkeys, gobblers 7s to 11s, hens 4s to 6s. FARM PRODUCE Potatoes, Southern £5 to £5 10s, local £2 10s to £3; onions, prime 6s to 7s ; swedes, £2 to £2 10s ; pumpkins, £2 35s to £4 ; cabbage, 5/6 per sack; fungus 5d to 55^d. DAIRY PRODUCE Butter, 9d to 9^d ; eggs, fresh 1/7 to 1/9; cheese, farmers, 5d to 7d; hams, factory, 9d to lOd ; sides, 9d to 9}^d ; lard, 5d to s^d. FRUIT Apples, dessert 6s to 9s, cookers 5/6 to 9s ; pears, dessert 6s to 8/9, cookers 5s to 6/9;' lemons, 5s to 8/3; oranges, 5/3 to 6/9; passion fruit, ss. GRAIN Maize, 3/8 to 4/3; wheat, 4/3 to 4/9 oats, 2/10; bran, £4 10s; sharps, £7 5s ; rice meal, £5; barley meal, £5 10s; chaff, £5 10s; Algerian oats, 3/6.
