HELENSVILLE TOWN BOARD

A MEETING of the Helensville Town Board was held on Saturday, July 4. Present: Messrs Jas. McLeod (chairman), A. Bercoft, J. Hand. J. A. Wilson, Captain Sellars, and the Clerk (Mr Stringer). Before the ordidary business commenced the Chairman congratulated Capt. Sellars on his election to the Board, and extended him a hearty welcome from the members. Capt. Sellars suitably replied. CORRESPONDENCE From W. T. Elliot, re state of part of footpath in Awaroa Road • —It was decided that the Road Committe inspect with a view to seeing what can be done to improve it. From the Waitemata County Council, suggesting the Board pay part of cost of County Engineer supervising work at swing bridge and Pipitiwai.—The Clerk was instructed to reply that it was agreed that the County Council should be the controlling body of the bridge, that the Town Board should pay half cost of construction, the County Council paying the other half and supplying the engineer. Also that with regard to Pipitiwai, the Board Inspector is supervising the work. From Mr H. M. Wilson, stating that he had purchased the turnout of the Richmond Fire Brigade station, including reel complete with all attachments, 500 ft new hose, couplings, etc., and offering the Board same for foundation of a brigade in Helensville for £15. —It was decided to accept Mr Wilson's offer with thanks. GENERAL It was decided that the Chairman represent the Town District at the Municipal Conference to be held in Wellington on the 14th inst. In event of his not being able to go, Mr Coates to be asked to attend. Two months leave of absence was granted Mr Wilson. FINANCIAL Bank balance, debit general account £253 0s 4d, debit drainage and water account £3307 Is.
