SHIPPING ITEMS

The Union Company's steamer Whangapi is loading 1,000,0C0 feet of sawn timber at Naumai, and a balance of 500,000 at the Tatarariki mill—all for Sydney. The Houto schooner arrived from Dunedm with produce for Wairoa ports on the 25ih June, and is leaving for Whangape to load timber for Dunedin. The schooner Aratapu is discharging produce at Dargaville, she then loads timber at the Wairoa mills for Lyttleton. The Eliza Firth, schooner, is loading timber at Dargaville railway wharf for Lyttleton. The s.s. Omana, while lying at the Dargaville wharf, had her rudder seriously damaged, and had to be beached for repairs, the Bell-Bird having to do her run from Dargaville to Tangiteroria on June 26. It is the opinion that a raft of timber logs which fouled the Houto whilst at anchor in drifting round came in contact with the Omana's rudder The cargo had to be discharged and the vessel beached.
