KAIPARA CO - OPERATIVE DAIRY FAGTORY CO. LTD.

MAY 31st saw the close of another prosperous season with the Kaipara Co - operative Dairy Factory Company Ltd. This Company, which commenced ■ operations in September of 191 L, has wonderfully advanced during the last three seasons, and to-day the factory stands as the second largest of its kind North of Auckland. The output for the first season was 130 tons, for the second 278, and this year an increase of 10 tons brings the total output to 288 tons. The number of suppliers has increased from 112 in the first year to'a total to date of over 240.

On Wednesday last at a special meeting of directors the annual report and balance sheet to May 31st, 1914, to be presented to the shareholders at the annual general meeting to be held on Thursday, 16th July, at 12.30 p.m., was approved and passed, is being printed, and will be circulated among shareholders and suppliers. The Directors' report, which in congratulating the shareholders on the result of the season's operations, goes on to say that after allowing for depreciation and writings off to the value of £415 6s sd, there remained a nett profit for the year of £4139 3s 7d, or together with £101 3s Id brought forward from the previous year, a total to the credit of profit and loss account of £4240 6s Bd. From this the directors recommend further payments be made as follows : —l^d per lb on butterfat supplied during the period September 31,1913, to March 31, 1914 (shipping season). It was also decided to recommend a dividend of 5 % be paid on paid up capital to 31st May, 1913. The total payments with dividend added would amount to £3904 8s lOd, and would leave a balance to be carried forward of £335 17s lOd. Arrangements, we understand, are being made for the delaying of the 2.15 p.m. Helensville to Kaiwaka train on the 16th July (annual meeting) one hour, so as to allow shareholders north of Helensville to attend.

The prosecuting counsel brought into court as the weapons used a stick, an

axe, a pair of tongs, a saw, and a rifle. The defendant's counsel exhibited, as tbe other man's weapons, a scythe blade, a pitchfork, a nistol, and a hoe. The jury's verdict is said to have been: "Resolved that we, the jury, would have given ten shillings to have seen the fight."
