THE TE PUA SCHOOL
We hear that Messrs Monk, Moyle, and Bevins have each written to the Board of Education protesting against the closing of the Te Pua School. We are of opinion that time should not be wasted in supplicating a Board which could contemplate such a gross injustice to any district, but tb.at.the Minister for Education, through the medium of the Member for Eaipara, should at once be communicated with. We would suggest that the petition which has been prepared, and signed by all the householders of Te Pua, should have the heading altered and forwarded to the Minister for Education, instead of to the Chairman and members of the Board of Education.
That the Board is determined to close this school forthwith is very apparent from the fact that no appointment has been mada to replace the present teacher Mr McPherson, who is leaving at the end of this week.
We understand that Messrs Barnes and J. Newman left on Tuesday, 23rd inst., as delegates to the Board of Education, to place before them the views of the householders of the district on this very serious matter.
