Essentials in Egg Production.
I Only perfectly fresh eggs should be . preserved, for it is largely a waste of labour and money to attempt I keeping- eggs that are more than i two or three days old when placed in the preservative. They should be allowed to settle twelve hours after being laid, but , the sooner after this time that j they can be treated the better will , they be when they are wanted for use. Dirty eggs do not preserve at all well, and if there is any earth or ; Hung on the shells, they should be ■ washed. Not only does a dirty ei^g have an injurious effect upon its own contents, but on all those that J come into contact therewith. i As infertile eggs preserve better | than those containing a germ ; it jis advisable, when producing eggs : with this end in view, to keep the • hens from the male bird.
