THE OYSTER SEASON
Small parcels of oysters will be sold wT ,* he A State depot on the king's Wharf, Auckland, during the coming season. The arrangement is the result of the sugggestion made by the Minister for Marine in February, that as such high prices were charged by the retailers m Auckland, arrangements should be made by the Department to enable the public to obtain supplies at reasonable rates. Large orders will be filled as formerly at the rate of 13s 6d per sack. People who require only small quantities will be able to purchase for Is a parcel of five dozen oysters, in the shell, or for - 3s as many oysters as can be contained^ in a kerosene tiri, As there are from 80 to 100 dozen in a sack, the wholesale price is equivalent to six or eight dozen for a shilling. Supplies will be drawn nrst from Mahurangi and Kerikeri, Bay ot Islands, and as the season advances other beds will be worked.
