LET 'EM ALL COME !

TO THE EDITOR

Sir, —Is Mr "Coatesite," as published in your last issue, letting off steam and trying to intimidate candidates from coming forward because he thinks a number of Reformers (?) standing for election at the coming contest would put the Liberal candidate in flying ? That is his contention, but I say " Let 'em all come." It is a free country, and if a fool and his money soon part, let it go round. Men with money and no brains were made for men with brains and no money, and I must admit that many of the former know little of politics or the requirements of the country, "while the latter are fairly endowed with such brains. However, I will let that go and come back to Coates, our present member. Oppositionists call him "a rat," and to all intents and purposes, he is. Though elected on the Independent ticket, he made certain pledges that he would support the Ward party for twelve months, but he never did, and the first chance, he got he went over to the other side—helped to put Massey and Co "where they are. Is this the man. to be trusted ? I simply ask the question advisedly, because I respect a man who sticks to his colours, no matter what he is. I believe in a man you can trust, and object to twisting and turning, or playing with the hares to hunt with the hounds. —I am, etc.,

Anti-Coates.
