STOCK SALES. Messrs Alfred Uucklatul ami Sous report, : — On Wednesday, April 8, at our weekly Wcstiield fat stock market, our beef pens contained 363 head. In cases of really prime cattle prices remained tlie same as last week, hut, on the whole, values were slightly easier. Choice ox sold to £1 11s, prime £1 7s to £1 Bs, cows and heifers, =€4 10s to £3 15s. 16 prime bullocks from Mr James McNicol, Waiorongomai, averaged £11 His 3d, and a truck of choice, quality steers Mr W. J. Thompson, Te Awamutu, made £12 each. An average supply of veal sold at about last week's rates. Runners to £4 3s, heavy suckers £2 14s to £3 11s, medium suckers £1 13s to £2 10s, lighter : £l 7s to £1 11s, light 13s to £1 4s, fresh dropped 3s to 9s. (74 sold). The sheep pens were well filled with a nice class of mutton, and generally there was little alteration in values from last report. Extra prime heavy wethers £1 4s 6d to £1 6s 6d» heavy prime £1 Is 9d to £1 3s 6d, medium to heavy 18s to £1 Is ; best heavy prime ewes 18s 6d to'£l 2s, good 15s to 17s 6d others 11s to 14s. (1979 sold). The 365 lambs were of ordinary quality. Good lambs were in keen demand. Best sold 4o 19s 6d (no really prime offered), 14s to 11s, unfinished 10s to 13s. Pigs were again penned in large numbers, and prices were slightly easier. Choppers to £3 18s* baconers £2 10s to £3 2s, lighter £1 8s to £1 13s, small £1 2s to £1 6s ; stores 12s to £1 2s, small stores and weaners 5s to 8s 6d. (211 sold).
