HELENSVILLE TOWN BOARD.

The Town Board met on Satur* day last, 7th inst.

Present: Messrs Jas. McLeod (chairman), A. Becroft, Jas. Stewart and Jas. Hand.

Mr'D. Stewart asked the Board to accept dedication of Nelson and Stewart streets. —Clerk to write and remind Mr Stewart that he had not supplied the plan which the Board had asked for.

Mr W. Allen's application for a building permit for a residence in First Avenue was granted.

A letter from, the Auckland railway employees asked the Board's assistance in the matter of getting the Railway authorities to have the last train from Auckland to Helensville put back ten minutes,—Board considered the train late enough at present and that it already carries a large number of short distance passengers to the discomfort of those going on to Helensville.

The Premier (Hon. W. F. Massey) thanked the Board for the invitation extended to him to open the water' and drainage works. He expected to be up North early in April, and would be glad to let the Board know whether it would be suitable for him to attend.

The Telegraph Department informed the Board that the extra wire being added between Helensyille and Anckland would greatly improve the telegraph service.

THE DRAINAGE QUESTION

_ The question of drainage was discussed at considerable length, but little progress was made in the matter, the Board being averse to allowing anyone to connect with, the main sewer until the full scheme is ready. Eventually, on the motion of the Chairman, seconded by Mr Hand, it was decided to notify Stewart Bros, to stop a lavatory nuisance emanating from their premises. On Mr Stewart's motion it was decided to allow any ratepayer to have Mr Burt's services as sanitary inspector for drainage connections providing satisfactory financial arrangements were made with the Board, Tenders for supply of extra water pipes and materials for house connections for the water service were held over until the Engineer's advice on same was available.
