A CHANGE WANTED

People who are familiar with the Police Department's work in this district consider the local constable one of the hardest worked men in the service, owing to the large area of country over which he has to travel and many duties that he has to perform. In court work he has to act as prosecutor, clerk of the court, give evidence, etc., and has many other roles to fill, besides being responsible for the policing of the district. It is considered therefore that the district is not adeqately policed, and that a second policeman or a clerk of the court should be appointed.
