Worth Showing Up.

One exhibit of more than ordinary interest at the Maungaturoto show was a collection of various kinds of potatoes grown upon Mr H. Cullen's farm in the district. The samples were taken from the yield from 21bs of seed of different varieties, grown under exactly similar conditions. In every case the 21bs of seed was planted in September and lifted in January. The manure was blood and bone, lime, and salt in equal parts, at rate of about 4 cwt per acre, and the resulting yield was as follows: • —Gamekeeper, 561bs; Up-to-date, 531bs ; Breese's Prolific, 491bs • Robin Ad air, 381bs ; Early Puritans, 351bs ; and Early Vermont, 221bs. In every case the samples obtained were perfect and quite without blemish It is intended that the exhibit shall be forwarded to the North Auckland Court.
