0 The local Detachment had hard luck in not winning the North Island Shield last year ; being by one school only, Rotorua. We were also beaten by one South Island school, Timaru South. This is an improvement on our position of the previous year, when were we third in the North Island, and eigth in New Zealand. This year we must try and win the Following is the position of the leading schools : —Rotorua, 72.9, Timaru South, 71.1; Helensville, 69;Paeroa D.H.S., 59.4; Timaru Marist Bro, 53.4. Highest scores for Individual Belt: —R. Laurie (Rotorua), 93; E..Dolien (Timaru S.) 91; E. Eames "(Helensville) 90: R. Bray, (Paeroa) 90: A. Hales, (Rotorua), 90. Last year the North Island * shield was won by Waihi South a score of 61.5, Rotorua being second with 57.1. Our score was 54.3.
