On Wednesday, January 21, at om weekly Westfield fat stock market, cur. supply of beef totalled 321 head. Freezing buyers were again unable to operate on account of the glut at the works, and values suffered a further drop of from 10s to 15s per head. Choice ox to Ll 9s 6d, prime Ll 7s to Li 8s 6d, cows and heifers Ll 2s to Li ss. Steers ranged in price from L 7 10s to Li 3, cows and heifers L 4 to L 8 155. ( Veal came forward in large numbers, and declined In price to the extent of 10s to 15s per head, exporters being oat of the market making a vast difference. Heavy suckers L 2 5s to L 3 ss, medium Ll 8s to L 2, lighter 16s to LI ss, small and fresh dropped 6s to 15s, weedy 3s (141 soldj. There was again a heavy yarding of mutton, and only a moderate demand, values being on a par with last report. Heavy prime wethers 19s to LI 0s 6d (no extra offered), medium to heavy 16s 6d to 18s 6d, light and unfinished 14s to 16s, extra heavy prime ewes 17s to 19s 3d, good 14s to 16s, other 103 6d to 13s (2466 sold). An average entry of lambs met with only a fair saie, freezing buyers being practically out of the market. Best made from los 6d to 16s 9d, good !3s to 14s 6d, light Us 6d to 12s 6d, stores 8s to 1 Is (851 sold). The pig pens were well tilled, all classes being easier in price. Heavy bacouers L 2 Jls to L 2 15s, lighter L 2 5s to L 2 10s.1 heavy porkers Ll 18s to L 2 4s, lighter Ll Us to Ll 16s, small Ll 5s to Ll 9s, weaners ils to 15s, rough stores 15s to Ll Is 6d (219 sold).
