Messrs Alfred Buckland and Sons report:—
At our weekly Westfield fat. stock market on Wednesday, Dec. 10, our beef pens contained 341 head. There was a steady demand throughout, with little alteration from last report. Choice ox sold to Ll lis 6d ; prime, Ll 8s to Ll 10s; cows and heifers, Ll 2s to Ll 8s ; steers ranged in price from L 8 10s to Ll4 17s 6d ; cows and heifers, Lo to LlO 17s 6d. There was again a heavy yarding of fat and young calves, and generally values were a little easier. Runnors", L 4 10s to L 5 17s Gd; heavy suckers, Lo to L 3 15s; medium, Ll 10s to L 2 8s ; lighter, Ll toLl 8s; small, 12s to 17s: fresh dropped, 5s to 10s ; weedy, 3s (121 soldj, Pat sheep came forward in record numbers, and included many lines of prime heavy wethers. There was a firm demand at values which were from Is to 2s head below late sales, freezing buyers taking a fair proportions. Extra heavy prime wethers, Ll 2s 6d to Ll 4s ; heavy prime, 19s 6d to Ll 2s ; medium to heavy, 17s 6d to 19s ; unfinished, 16s to 17s : extra heavy prime ewes, 18s to Ll 0s 3d • good, 15s to 17s ; others, 13 to 14s 6d. Several pens of prize woolly wethers and hoggets, the property of Mr A. Orr, Morrinsville, brought from Ll 12s to L 2 (3097 sheep sold). Lambs were penned in full numbers, and exporters were operating freely. Best heavy, 18s to 19s9d;good, 15s 6d to 16s 6d ; others, 13s to 15s ; light and unfinished, Ss 3d to 12s (579 sold). Pigs penned in usual numbers, and prices were unchanged. Heavy baconers, £2 8s to £2 Ms ; large porkers, Ll 12s to Ll 16s; lighter, Ll 6s to Ll lis ; small, Ll Is to Li 5s ; weaners, 7s to 13s (128 sold).
