Shooting.
Class firing was finished on Friday last, and following are complete scores. It will be seen tbat the average for the Detachment is not only higher than that made by us last year, but actually higher than that made by last year's winners of the shield. How* ever if one school can improve so much, another can also, so it is premature to build on bringing the Shield to Helensville. All boys obtaining 63 or over will obtain Marksmen's badges ; so that only 6 will this year fail out of 28 who took part.
Last year the shield was won by Waihi South, with a score of 61,5, Kotorua being second with 57.
