'Alfred Buckland and Sons' Sares.
Messrs Alfred Buckiand and Sons report:—
At our weekly Westfield fat stock market on Wednesday,- Dec. 3, we sold fat cattle to the number of 323 head. Competition was more spirited, and generally there was an advance of about iOs, per head. Choice ox sold to Ll 12s, prime Ll 8s to Ll 10s, cows and heiters Ll 2s to Ll 7s. Steers ranged in price from LB-10s to Ll3 Ins, cows and heifers L 5 to LlO 10s. There was a large supply of fat and young calves. Heavy suckers were easier. Other classes sold at about late rates. Runners L 4 to L 5 ss. heavy suckers L 3to Lo los, medium Ll 15stoL2 10s, lighter Ll 5s to Ll 13a, small and fresh dropped 7s to LI Is, weedy 3s to 6s (132 sold). There was again a heavy yarding of mutton, but the quality was not up to last week. Ewes and unfinished sheep were a little lower, but prime wethers maintained late quotations. Extra heavy prime wethers Ll 4s to Ll os €d, prime heavy Ll to Ll 3s, medium to heavy 17s 6d to 19s 6d. unfinished iss to 17s, best prime heavy ewes 19s to Ll Is, good 16s to 18s, others 13s to 3os6d. Mr W. Duder's of Maraetai, first prize wethers, Clevedon Show, brought £l 13s (1966 sold;, A big entry of lambs was slightly below last week's values. Best heavy 18s 6d to Ll, good 15s to 16s, others 12s 6d to 14s, light 10s to 12s (542 sold.) Pigs came forward in average numbers. There was only a moderate demand, and values were unchanged. Choppers to £4 ss, baconers L 2 2s to L 2 16s, large porkers Ll 15s to L 2 Is, lighter Ll 5s to Ll 13s, slips to Ll is, weavers 12s to 18s (151 sold).
