Matters in connection with the strikes have now settled down, the prominent feature of the afiair being that a number of men have lost their work through coming out on strike, which ha? been given to others. Nearly all the special police 4 nave been disbanded, and/many of the regulars have returned to their various stations. The Auckland wharves are practically open, only a small contingent of specials being retained. '
