A statement in regard to the business that the Government proposes to proceed with during the present session, was made last evening in the House of Representatives by the Prime Minister in reply to an enquiry from the Leader of the- Opposition, Sir Joseph Ward, Bart. Mr Massey said that the reason why he had not previously taken the House into his confidence was that there had been a great deal of obstruction (Opposition interruptions). " Last night," he continued, " we had four hours of the most miserable obstruction that the House has ever experienced. Last Friday night, also, practically nothing was done as a result of similar obstruction. Then again, when- leave to introduce the Second Ballot Act Repeal Bill was sought it was stonewalled right until half-past midnight. It was too late to go on with the Bill. That incident was without parallel in the history of New Zealand Parliament." Mr J. A. Hannan (Invercargill) No, no. It has been done over and over again. Mr Massey: I say that it has never been done during the past 19 years. If what I speak of was not deliberate obstruction I have never seen it. Mr Massey then detailed the Bills that are to be proceeded with.
