Personal.

Mrs Deacon, of Riverhead, who has attained the ripe age of 89 years, is at present somewhat ill with influenza. Mr A. J. Bradl , of Te Pua, who is in a private hospital in Auckland, and underwent serious operation last Thursda , is now getting on well. ' Mr and Mrs H. Aitkenhead, of Parakai, returned from their trip to the Old Country last week, after experiencing a most enjoyable time. During their several months of holiday in the Old Land they spent most of their time in Ireland, but also went through England and Scotland. It was 31 years since Mr Aitkenheadjeft the Home land, and he noticed that a good deal of change had taken place in that period. In farming circles the improved conditions of Labour were very pronounced, but there was a great scarcity of farm labourers owing to so many emigrating, to Canada in particular. Being interested in stock Mr Aitkenhead visited the leading Agricultural shows, and he pays a high tribute to the quality of the horses exhibited. The finest types of Clydesdales and carriage horses were on view, and were brought up to perfection. There was not much attention given to dairy stock, as the butterfat business was not gone in for like it is in this country. The trip proved a delightful holiday for both Mr and Mrs Aitkenhead, who are the recipients of hearty congratulations from many friends on their safe return.
