Alfred Buckland and Sons' Sales.
Messrs Alfred Buckland and Sons report:— At our weekly Westfield fat stock market on Wednesday, Sept.l 3, our supply of beef totalled 366 head, the quality again being first-class. In an odd case prices were a shade easier, generally values ruled the same as last week, Choice ox sold to Ll 13s, prime Ll 9s to Ll 1 is, cows and heifers Ll 5s to Ll 9s, steers from ILB ios to Lls 14s, cows and heifers L 5 to Ll2. The latter price was ob~ tamed for a choice heifer fattened by Mr E. W. Beer, of Cambridge, A truck of bullocks from the same vendor averaged Lls 3s 2d, and two trucks of choice bullocks from Mr A, Orr, of Morrinsville, averaged £14 9s 9d. JTat and young calves penned in large numbers, and sold freely, small arid fresh-dropped being in keen demand. Runners made L 4 10s to L 5 3s. heavy suckers L 3 10s to L 4 Bs, choice rnediun? suckers L 2 5s to L 3 ss, small and fresh-dropped 8s to Ll Is, small weedy 3s (144 sold). There was a heavy yarding of' mutton. The major portion was prime ! neavy wethers. Competition was steady at prices on a par with late quotations. Extra heavy prime wethers made Ll 12s to Ll 13s 6d, heavy prime Ll 8s to Ll 11s, medium to heavy Ll 4s to L] 7s 6d, light and unfinished Ll Is to Ll 3s 9d, best heavy prime ewes Ll 6s to Ll 8s 9d, good Ll 3s to Ll ss, others 15s to Ll Is, best hoggets Ll Is to Ll 3s 9d, best heavy prime ewes Ll 6s to Ll 8s 9d, good Ll 3s toLl ss, others 15s to Ll Is, best hoggets L.l Is to Ll 3s 6d,----others 16s to Ll (2559 sold). Spring lambs—the first of the season— from Messrs W. Westney (of Mangere), and Fred Stephens (of Clevedon) brought from 17s to Ll 11s 3d (eight sold.)
Pigs-penned short of requirements, and prices firmed considerably. No choppers or heavy baconers offered. Light baconers made Lo Is to L 3 19s, large porkers L 2 10s to L 3, smaller Ll 16s to L 2 Bs, small LI BstoLl 15s, slips 19s to Ll ss,,weaners to 18s (85 pigs sold.)
