New Zealand Loan & Mercantile Co report:— At Westfield yards on Wednesday, fat cattle were yarded in large numbers, and of excellent quality. Bidding was scarcely as brisk as the previous week, and prices receded Is per 3 001b. Best oxen sold to 32s per 1001b, others 27s to 31s, cows and heifers 23s to 275, steers from Ll2 10a to Lls for heavy-weights, others L 9 15s to Ll2 ss. cows and heifers L 5 5s to LlO. Veal calves were penned in good numbers, and again sold at high rates. Heavy vealcrs sold to L 4 15s, medium weights Lls 5s to L 4 2s, lighter sorts L 2to L 2 19s, smaller and freshdropped 3s to 355. Sheep were yarded in average numbers, and sold at last week's rates. Best wethers sold at from 28s to 325, others 22s to 27s 9d ; ewes, heavy-* weights 25s to 295, others lGs 6d to 24s 6d A draft of 160 fat wethers from Mr F. Manmg, of Moumokai, averaged Ll 10s 9d. Hoggets came forward iv usual supply. Bost quality sold at from 17s 3d to Ll 3s, others 13s Gd'to IGs 9d. Pigs were yarded in iarge numbers. and sold at late rates. Largo baconers mado L-i 10s to L 5 11s, baeoiiurs L' 6 10s to Li ss, large porkers L 2 15s to L 3 7s' porkers L 2 to L 2 14s, slips Ll 5s to 3Us, weaners los to 21s.
