New Zealand Loan & Mercantile Co report:— At Westfield yards on Wednesday, fat cattle were yarded in full numbers and mostly of choice quality and at last week's quotations, although in some cases prices were a little easier. Prime oxen sold up to 33s per 1001b, others at from 28s to 30s per 100 lb, cows and heifers 25s 6d to 29s per 1001b, steers from L8 10s to Llo 2s 6d, cows and heifers Lo 10s to L9 15s. I A draft of 16 steers from Mr E. Allen, ! Cambridge, small but well done, averaged LI3 Jos. A draft of 16 steefs from Mr B. Reid averaged Ll? 13s. Veal calves were yarded in full numbers, and sold at very high' rates. Heavy vealers sold to L4 17s Bd, medium weights L2 8s to L4, others Ll 6s to L2 7s, smaller and freshdropped 6s to 16s 6d. Sheep were yarded in scarcely average numbers, and advanced in price from 2s to 3s 6d per head ou last week's prices, Best wethers sold at from Li 8s to Ll 12s 3d, others 20s to 2Gs 6d, heavy ewes 20s3d 'to- 24s yd, otheis 17s 6d to l'Js 9d, hoggets of best quality 14s to 17s 6d, others 10s fid to 14s 9d. Pigs were yarded in small numbers, and sold at extreme rates, baconers selling at from L3 7s to L4 12s, porkers L2 8s to L3 2s 6d, slips Ll to Ll 7s, weauers 8s 6d to 13s 6d.
