VVaimauku (3). Helensville (0)

The cup match between Helensville and Waimauku teams on Saturday was somewhat spoilt by the bad. weather conditions. The ball was greasy and difficult to handle and the game was chiefly between the two sets of forwards. Each back division had a lot of defensive work. The home team did most attacking but although they W6re over their oprjonents' goal line several times" they secured no points. From a free kick to Helensville the ball passed just under the bar. Waimauku also were near scoring on at least two occasions. No score was registered until well on in the last spoil. Fletcher then got possession about Helensville 25 line and mado a dash for the line. He was tackled and seemed to be pushed into touch, the coiner flag knocked down, but was awarded a score. The try was much questioned by the defenders as it was considered that Fletcher had stepped over the touch line and finished up touch~in-goal. The game was now well advanced, but the home team made another bi»effort to score. Play was carried near to Waimauku line and although a score seemed likely the visitors moved play back to niidfield. The whistle then blew with the result: Wairnauku. 3 points, Helensville nil. There was some splendid individual play on botJi sides, but little shown in tho way of combination. Mr Durand refereed. Foi tho visitors, Fleteliev, Taylor Williams, Perritt and the Maori boy full-back did good service, and noticeable for Helensville wore V. Me Leod, Masters, Garry, Downer and Saudin. JvAiPAEA LEAGUE.
