♦ New Zealand Loan & Mercantile Co. report:— At Westfield yards on Wednesday, fat catlle were yarded in larger numbers than usual. Prices were easiei than the previous week and the quality was excellent throughout, best oxen selling to 34s per 100 lbs others 31s to 335; cows and heifers 23s to 30s per 100 lbs ; steers sold at from £6 10 to £17 s7s 6d ; cows and heifers, £4 to £8 17s Od, A draft of 11 steers from Mr Jno. Harris, Waiuku, averaged £16 6s. Veal pens were well filled and sold well. Heavy vealers selling to £4 18, medium weights £3 10s to £4 ss, others £2 10s to £3 ss, lighter 20s to £2 ss, smaller and fresh dropped 3s to 18s. Hheep came forward ia large numbers, and showed no improvement in price. Best wethers sold at fr<"m 26s to 28s 6d, others 21s to 25s 9d ; untiuished wethers, 14s 6d to 18s 9d ; heavy ewes sold at 265, others 20s to 24s ; inferior fatted, 12s 6d to 18s. Lambs were yarded in average supply and sold at late rates. Best quality hold to 20s 9d, others 12s to 17s, inferior falted 8s to 10a 6d. Pigs were penned in short quantities and again sold at high rates, baconers selling to 1,4 10s, porkers L 2 10s to L 3 15s, slips 25s to 30s. No weaners yarded.
