j ♦ Messrs Alfred Buekland and Sons report: — At out weekly Westfield fat btock market on Wednesday June I], our entry of, beef numbered 278 head, the quality being first class. Competition was estra keen and values ad* vanced from Ll 10s to L 2 head. Choice ox sold to Ll 16s, prime Ll 12s to Ll 15s ; cows and heifers, Ll os to Ll 13s 5 steers ranged in price from L 7 15s to Ll6s 17s Gd ; cows and heifers, L 4 10s to Lll 17s 6d. A draft of 28 prime heavy bullocks averaged Ll os 5s lOd ; another draft of 23 averaged Ll4 1 6d. A truck from Mr W. A. Lovell, of Taupiri, averaged Li 5 14s 3d, and several other consignments averaged between Ll2 10s andLH. The 61 fat and young calves sold at late high rates. Choice heavy suckers to L 4 16s, medium srrefcers L 2 10s to L 3 10s, light Ll 13s to L 2 ss, small and fresh, dropped 3s to Ll 10s. There was a large entry of mutton, the bu]k being heavy prim 6 wethers. , There was a strong demand, competition being very spirited, with a sharp rise in values. Extra heavy prime wethers Ll 9s Gd to Ll 13s ; heavy prime Ll 6s 6d to Ll 9s, medium to heavy Ll 2s 6d to Ll 6s, light and unfinished 17s to Ll, 81 estra heavy prime wethers averaged Ll 32s 2d, and a. line of 347 wethers averaged Ll^s 7d. Extra heavy prime ewes Ll 5s 6d to Ll 9s 6d (a pen of 16 extra special ewes from Mr J. Connor. Opotiki, brought Ll 14s ) ; good ewes 19s to Ll 4s, others 13s to 18s, poor stores 8s to lis. 2294 sold, Few lambs offered, prime sorts selling well at from 183 to Ll Is 6d for extra good (Mr W, H. James, of Pirongia, topping the market with 44 lambs at Ll Is each), good 14s 6d to 17s, otheis 12s to Ids ; stores 9s to lis 6d, (165 sold.) Pigs came forward in more than average numbers. Bidding was brisk, and late high rates were improved on. No choppors penned. Heavy baconers L 3 13s to L 4 7s, lighter L 3 5s to L 3 12s
