ALBERTLAND 6 V BATLEY 8. [Own Correspondent,] The above match was played on the Port Albert ground on Saturday, June 7th, and proved a very interesting- and exciting game. % Batley set the ball rolling, playing with what wind there was against them. In the first twenty, play was first at one end of the field and then at the other. A free kick to Albertland, however, gave the first chance of a score. C. Booth took the kick and landed a splendid goal. Albertland 3 Batley nil. The score still remained the same when the teams changed over for the 3econd twenty. As in the first play was very even, until Batley picking up smartly scored a very pretty try. which was converted. Batley 5 Albertland 3. Off-side play again gave Albertland an opportunity of scoring and C. Booth again kicked the ball over the bar. Albertland 6 Batley 5. When the whistle blew for half time the score remained unaltered.

From the commencement of the third twenty the play was fast, both teams endeavouring to add to their score. Towards the end of the spell Batley again crossed the line. The kick at goal failed. Batley 8, Albertland 6. In'the final twenty Albert^ land were pressing hard, "and time after time were near scoring; but when the whistle blew no change had been made in tho score, Batley thus winning by 8 points to 6. Mr W. Booth had charge of the whistle.
