Mounted Rifles.
The local contingent of the North Auckland Mounted Rjfles returned to Helensville from their annual camp training last Saturday. They report having had a really good time, and speak well of the arrangements made for their comfort in camp. With the exception of a few minor accidents to some of the members, the outing proved most enjoyable. Kay Wilson had the misfortune to meet with a broken collarbone, owing to his horse rearing and falling back on him. Another member of the corps. Jackson Farrell, sustained a broken leg as the result of his horse bolting and coming in contact with another horse, which necessitated his being left at the Hamilton hospital. A northern member, Ken Dell, had bad luck in losing his s horse, which-got its foot in a hole and came down heavily, the rider being fortunate to escape injury, although the horse had to be destroyed. The following promotions have been announced : —Sergt-Farrier D. Bradly to Quartermaster Farrier-Sergeant, Corporal Farrier G. McDonald to SergeantFarrier, Private T. Hafford to Corporal-Farrier, Privates A. E. Grey and J. Simcock to be Corporals.
