DOMAIN BOARD.

The above Board met on Saturday afternoon last. Present: Messrs Jas. McLeod (Chairman), A. Becroft and Jas. Hand. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. CONTROL OF HOT SPRINGS. The Clerk reported that he had written the Prime Minister, Minister of Tourist Department, and M.P.'s as instructed, re the Government taking over the Hot Springs and had received the following replies : From the Prime Minister, Mr W. F. Massey—l am in receipt of your letter of the 10th inst., forwarding copy of resolution passed by the Helensville Town Board urging the Government to take over the control of the Helensville Hot Springs. I have taken a careful note t^this matter, and shall be glad to' confer with my colleague, the Hon. Mr Rhodes, Minister in charge of Tourist Department, and will let you know the result later. From Mr A. M. Myers, Member for Auckland East —I am in. receipt of yours of 10th inst., and note that your board has passed j a resolution asking the Governmenr to take over the control of the Helensville Hot Springs. I . shall be pleased to write to the Minister of Tourist and Health Resorts supporting your request. \ From Mr J. G. Coates, Member for Kaipaia—Your letter from Helensville dated 10th inst., to hand, I shall be pleased to assist in the direction required. Messrs J. H. Bradney, M.P. for Auckland West, and Mr Alex. Harris, M.P. for Waitemata, also replied that they would assist in the direction asked, the latter stating that he quite agreed with the Board that it was desirable the Government should assume control of the Helensville Hot Springs. The Clerk stated that the Min-1 ister of Tourist Departments reply had not yet come to hand. The Chairman thought the re-! plies were satisfactory, nothing further could be done but wait events. TENNIS COURTS. A letter was. read from Mr W. Allen, Secretary Helensville Tennis Club, recommending alteration of lay out of the Domain courts, and erecting netting 12ft high around the whole area. The Chairman stated that the matter was being attended to as recommended. INVALID'S CHAIR. A letter was read from the Rev. A. A. Murray, a visitor to the Springs, suggesting to the Board the advisability of purchasing an invalid's chair for the use of bad cases of rheumatism that visit the springs from time to time. And pointing out that at present there was a lady visitor at the Springs for treatment who at great inconvenience and pain struggles from her boardinghouse to the Springs. He was sure a chair would soon pay for itself by being let at a small premium, and felt sure the matter would receive the Board's attention. After the cost of chair and probable income had been discussed the matter was deferred. ACCOUNTS. Accounts amounting to £51 19s 3d paid between meetings were passed, and £8 9s lOd outstanding was passed for payment. BALANCE SHEET. The annual balance sheet for the year ended 31st December, 1912, was laid on the taMe for the Chairman's signature, before presentation in pursuance with Section 45 of Public Rserves and Domains Act, 1908. The receipts for baths for the year just ended is £313 2s 8d against £243 6s lOd for the previous year, an increase of £69 15s lid. Receipts from lawns, which were opened in November are £3 7s, bowls contributing £2 7s, tennis 16s 6d, and croquet 3 s 6d. RECEIPTS. The Clerk was instructed to forward vouchers to lift grant for amount expended, It was decided £;hat the large paddock facing the main road be put down in grass. The advis-

ability of continuing the circular drive through the paddock or turning it into a cricket and football ground was discussed. Mr Becroft thought it should be a sports ground. The Chairman stated that as water had been located on it it would be the place for a sanitorium, and the drive would have to go through in front of that building, He contended that grounds further back should come in for a sports ground.
