Fire at Kaipara Dairy Factory.

The Kaipara Dairy Factory had a narrow escape from fire last Sunday morning. It appears that on going to the factoiy to open out the fire in the engine room about 5 a.m., Mr Garry was met with dense smoke, the inside of the engine room smouldering all over, the beams and a heap of coal burning fiercely ; luckily the engine room is built of iron, and nothing but the beams and a few odd pieces of timber and the coal heap took fire, otherwise the Factory building must have been destroyed, as it was the fire was soon quenched. The damage ia estimated at somewhat under £5. Mr Garry cannot account for the fire, as everything was safe at 10 a.m. the night previous, The only thing which may have caused it, in his opinion, being the combustion cf coal dust that accumulates about the engine.
