TENNIS.
A tennis match between two local teams was played on Thursday last on Mr W. Cullen's lawn, being the first since the advent of tennis in Helensville. Theie was a large number of ladies and gentlemen present, afternoon tea being kindly supplied by Mrs. Cullens. The games were very keenly contested and although none of the players seemed up to their usual form the match resulted in a win by one game for " Helensville ". The teams contesting were-:— Helensville : Messrs J. E. Page, F Pengally, 0. Sandin : Mesdames. Earnes, 0. Sandin: Misses Little and Donovan. Cullens' team : Messrs W. Cullen, W. Alien, W. Sandin andß. Screaton. Mrs W. Alien : Misses M. Cullen, E. Stanaway and M. Tarrant. Following are the results :■•- F. Pengally and Miss Little v R. Screaton and-Miss M. Cullens 6-2. J. Ei.
